How BattlePie Collects, Uses, and Protects Your Data

THIS INCLUDES CONSENT TO RECORDING AND AI ANALYSIS OF ALL VOICE COMMUNICATIONS.
IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE SERVICE.

1. INTRODUCTION

BattlePie is operated by Hitesh Khangta, located in Himachal Pradesh, India. BattlePie is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and what your rights are.

This Policy applies to all BattlePie services including Minecraft servers at battlepie.net, the Store, websites, Discord, and all plugins including Simple Voice Chat (collectively, the "Service").

Primary data storage is in India. We comply with India's DPDPA 2023 and make best-effort compliance with GDPR (EEA), COPPA (USA), and other regional laws.

You must explicitly accept this Policy before using the Service. If you do not accept, you will not be permitted to access BattlePie.

2. DATA WE COLLECT

2.1 Account and Identity Data
Minecraft username and UUID;
IP address at time of connection;
Linked platform accounts (e.g., Discord) where voluntarily connected;
Email address if provided voluntarily.

2.2 Gameplay and Technical Data
Server session logs (login/logout timestamps, playtime, server regions);
In-game actions, statistics, achievements, and rankings;
In-game text chat messages;
Purchase history and Virtual Goods inventory;
Ban, mute, and punishment history;
Client version and game edition.

2.3 Voice Communication Data (See Section 5 for full details)
Raw audio recordings from Simple Voice Chat;
AI-generated text transcripts;
AI analysis outputs (profanity flags, severity scores, moderation signals);
Session metadata (timestamps, server instance, participant identifiers).

2.4 Store and Payment Data
Purchase records (item type, price, timestamp);
Billing country/region for tax purposes;
Payment processing via third-party processors; BattlePie does not store card data.

2.5 Technical Data
Server log files and crash reports;
Performance metrics associated with your session.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

3.1 Service Operation
Player authentication and account management;
Server operation, rule enforcement, and gameplay records;
Processing purchases and delivering Virtual Goods;
Enforcing disciplinary actions.

3.2 Safety and Moderation
Detecting cheating, hacking, and exploitation;
Enforcing conduct rules across text and voice;
Investigating abuse reports and disputes.

3.3 AI Analysis and Analytics
Voice recordings processed by AI for profanity/violation detection (Section 5);
Aggregate data analysis for server improvement and cheat detection;
AI outputs may be reviewed by human moderators;
Data may be used to train or improve AI moderation models, per applicable law.

3.4 Legal Obligations
Compliance with Indian law, court orders, and regulatory requirements.

4. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING

Contract Performance: Providing the Service and fulfilling purchases;
Legitimate Interests: Safety, security, fraud prevention, moderation, analytics;
Consent: Voice recording/AI analysis, model training, marketing communications;
Legal Obligation: Compliance with applicable laws.

5. VOICE CHAT & AI MONITORING — FULL DISCLOSURE

This section is BattlePie's complete and binding Voice Chat & AI Monitoring Disclosure. Using voice chat features requires your explicit agreement to all practices below.

5.1 Overview
BattlePie operates the Simple Voice Chat plugin for proximity-based voice communication. All voice communications are recorded and AI-processed for moderation. Using voice chat requires explicit consent to all practices below before the feature can be activated.

5.2 What the Plugin Captures
Live audio from your microphone while voice chat is active;
Audio transmitted to nearby players AND copied to BattlePie servers in India;
Each recording linked to your Minecraft UUID, username, server, and timestamp;
Plugin does NOT capture audio when your microphone is muted within the plugin;
Plugin does NOT record audio outside of active voice chat sessions.

5.3 Data Collected
Raw audio recordings of your voice;
AI-generated text transcripts of all recorded speech;
AI analysis outputs: profanity flags, hate speech detection, severity scores;
Session metadata: UUID, username, server instance, date/time;
Moderation records where a violation is detected and acted upon.

5.4 Purpose of AI Analysis
AI processes ALL voice recordings exclusively for moderation purposes:
Speech-to-Text Transcription of recorded audio;
Profanity Detection: scanning for profanity, slurs, and abusive language;
Policy Matching: matching content to Rules of Conduct categories;
Severity Scoring: assigning confidence levels and severity scores to flags;
General Moderation: enforcing conduct standards across the Service.

Voice data is NOT used for advertising or profiling.
Voice data is NOT sold or rented to any third party.

5.5 Human Review
AI-flagged content may be reviewed by authorized BattlePie staff when:
AI confidence/severity scores exceed moderation thresholds;
A serious sanction is being considered;
A player files an appeal of a moderation action;
An abuse report references a voice chat interaction.
Reviewers are bound by confidentiality obligations and access controls.

5.6 Data Storage and Retention
Storage: All voice data on servers physically located in India;
Audio Recordings: Retained for 7 to 30 working days then permanently deleted;
Transcripts and AI Flags: Retained for 7 to 30 working days;
Moderation Records: May be retained indefinitely;
All data encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

5.7 Consent
Before accessing voice chat, you will be presented with an explicit consent request covering:
Recording of voice communications;
Storage on servers in India;
AI transcription and analysis;
Human review of AI-flagged sessions by authorized staff.
If you do not provide explicit consent, you will not be able to use voice chat. Minors aged 13–17 require parent/guardian consent.

5.8 Withdrawing Consent
Withdraw by ceasing use of the voice chat feature at any time. Pre-withdrawal data is retained for the remainder of its applicable retention period.

5.9 No Sale; No Advertising
Voice data is NOT sold, licensed, or transferred for commercial purposes and is NOT used for advertising profiling.

5.10 Third-Party Plugin Notice
Simple Voice Chat is a third-party plugin not owned by BattlePie. The above describes BattlePie's server-side practices. Review the plugin developer's own documentation for client-side handling.

5.11 Your Rights Regarding Voice Data
Right to Know: Confirm whether voice data is held about you;
Right to Access: Request transcripts or AI outputs for your account;
Right to Erasure: Request deletion subject to legal retention obligations;
Right to Object: Cease use of the voice chat feature;
Right to Complain: Contact Data Protection Board of India or your local DPA.

5.12 Summary at a Glance

OPT-OUT: Do not use voice chat. No partial opt-out available.

6. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

6.1 No Sale of Personal Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data for marketing or commercial purposes.

6.2 Service Providers
We share data with trusted providers for hosting (India-primary), payment processing, AI/ML services, and analytics. All bound by data processing agreements.

6.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose data to law enforcement or courts as required by applicable law.

6.4 Business Transfers
Personal data may transfer in a merger or acquisition under the same protections.

7. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

7.1 Primary storage: India. International expansion will include transfer safeguards.
7.2 Security: TLS encryption in transit; encryption at rest; access controls; regular reviews; staff training. No system is 100% secure.
7.3 Breach Notification: Affected users and regulators notified per DPDPA 2023.

8. YOUR RIGHTS AS A DATA SUBJECT

Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you;
Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data;
Erasure: Request deletion subject to legal retention obligations;
Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured format;

9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

We do not knowingly collect data from under-13s. Players 13–17 require verifiable parental consent. Contact us via battlepie.net if a child's data was collected without consent and we will delete it promptly.

10. COOKIES AND TRACKING

Our website may use cookies for session management, analytics, and Store functionality. Cookie consent will be presented where required by law. Manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Policy at any time. Material changes will be announced via the website or Discord. You will be required to re-accept the updated Policy upon next login. If you do not accept, you will not be able to continue using the Service.

13. BATTLEPIE DISCORD BOT

This section governs the collection, use, and sharing of personal information by BattlePie Bot, a Discord bot developed by Team BattlePie. By using BattlePie Bot, you agree to the terms of this section in addition to the rest of this Privacy Policy.

13.1 Information We Collect
When you use BattlePie Bot, we may collect the following information:
Your Discord user ID and username;
Server and channel information in which the bot operates;
Message content submitted to or processed by the bot;
Usage data such as the frequency and duration of your interactions with the bot.

13.2 How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected through BattlePie Bot to:
Operate and improve the bot and its features;
Provide support and respond to your requests;
Develop new features or services;
Conduct internal research and analytics;
Comply with applicable legal obligations.

13.3 Sharing Your Information
We do not sell or share your personal information collected through BattlePie Bot with third parties for commercial purposes. We may disclose your information where required by law, in response to a valid legal process, or upon request from a law enforcement agency or regulatory authority.

13.4 Data Retention
We retain information collected through BattlePie Bot for as long as necessary to provide the bot's services or as required by applicable law. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at abuse@battlepie.net. We will delete your information when it is no longer needed for the purposes set out in this section.

13.5 Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information collected through BattlePie Bot from unauthorised access, alteration, or destruction. No security measure is entirely foolproof, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
